Edmund Optics® TECHSPEC® OD6 Rugate Notch Filters Provide Greater Than 99.5% Reflectivity at CWL

TECHSPEC® OD 6 Rugate Notch Filters

Edmund Optics (EO), provider of optical components and tools, introduces TECHSPEC® OD 6 Rugate Notch Filters. The filters provide excellent transmission for a broad range of wavelengths, offering an impressive 92% transmission from 350 to 2000 nm. These narrow band reflectors exhibit an OD>6 rejection for the center wavelength and greater than 99.5% reflectivity at the center wavelength.

Rugate technology offers superior filter performance:
Edmund Optics’ Rugate style notch filters are manufactured using a single coating layer with a continuous sinusoidally varying refractive index, which provides superior performance over standard notch filters, manufactured using a structure of multiple dielectric layers of alternating high and low refractive indexes. EO’s rugate notch filters feature low ripple of less than 5% and no harmonic reflections, making them ideal for a broad range of wavelengths. Notch filters are used to reflect a specific laser wavelength, preventing damage to the optical system, while retaining a high level of visible or out-of-band transmission.

Available in three different center wavelength models:
TECHSPEC OD 6 Rugate Notch Filters are available with a center wavelength (CWL) of 532 nm with a CWL tolerance of +5.3 nm and FWHM of 16 +2.7 nm. The 632 nm CWL filter has a CWL tolerance of +6.3 nm and FWHM of 19 +3.2 nm. The CWL 1064 nm filter has a CWL tolerance of +10.6 nm and FWHM of 41 +5.3 nm. All models have a 25 mm diameter, 2.54 mm thickness, a clear aperture of 22 mm and are mounted in a black-anodized aluminum ring for easy integration into optical systems.
